Making Multi-stakeholder Partnerships Work for the Sustainable Development Goals

A Workshop on the Margins of the UN High Level Political Forum

New York, 15 & 16 July 2017

- for an english version of the website please use the ENG button on the top of the page -

One and a half days of focused presentations and lively interaction bringing together multi-stakeholder partnerships that contribute to the SDGs under review at this year’s UN High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 14), and others interested in partnerships.

The workshop on July 15 and 16 will:

  1. Provide space for partnerships working on particular goals and targets to share their experiences and lessons learnt, helping to build a well-informed community of practice that can have a significant role in implementing the SDGs
  2. Begin to collate a set of principles that multi-stakeholder partnerships themselves articulate as guidance for how they work
  3. Inform the debate about multi-stakeholder partnerships for sustainable development at the UN, among governments and stakeholders

The draft agenda is also on the website - elements include:

  • Introduction – a bird’s eye view of SDGs, SDG implementation, and role of partnerships
  • History of Multi-stakeholder Partnerships and the UN
  • Breakout sessions by issues / SDGs: sharing experiences with MSPs for SDGs
  • Breakout sessions by issues / SDGs: synthesizing lessons learned, recommendations, and needs for the future of MSPs for the respective SDGs
  • Breakout sessions on cross-cutting issues: governance; building individual & institutional capacities; financing; review, reporting & evaluation
  • Towards a set of principles for MSPs
  • Reflections on the workshop’s discussions and the way forward for MSP

Please also share among your colleagues and networks.
